To keep the water out or the low lands there were windmills. Then the steam engine was developed and put to use to do this wet function. Cruguius was just that, a large and rather unusual array or water pumps designed to keep the 'polders' dry. Here you can see the restored pumps and learn more about the district's use or them. |
